IMG_3365Grasslands Golf and Country Club was honored once again to be chosen as a venue for the Q-School golf qualifying event.  Those players who advance through all three levels of the Q-School are guaranteed at least a conditional status on the 2016 Tour.

The Players

Young golfers from around the globe come to Grasslands to test their playing skills on our championship course.  Two local players, Former Moc Tim Crouch and Kelly McHugh of Lakeland, competed in the event and we were proud to support them.  At the end of the week-long tournament, Doug Letson of Tampa, Florida was at the top of the leaderboard.  Close behind were Garret Osborn of Birmingham, Alabama and Mark Blakefield of Maysville, Kentucky.

The Course

Our Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp designed course was impeccably manicured and offered each player a true challenge for the players’ golfing prowess.  The course is not only demanding, but also forgiving with its long par-5’s, strategically placed water hazards and its Champion turf greens.

Due to its challenges and design, the course has also been the site of the former Nike, now Web.Com Tour, event, the “Lakeland Classic” and the NFPGA Tour & Club Professional Invitational.

Grassland’s Role

With the ultimate objective of the Q-school competition being qualification for the tour and the potential of moving up to the PGA tour, Grasslands Golf and Country Club provides an unparalleled challenge.  By hosting the Q-School event, Grasslands Golf and Country Club provides these young golfers an initial step to realizing their golfing dream.
